How can we help?
Guides for setting up printers, the print bridge, your account and the API. Search, or pick a topic below.
Getting started
What Laberty is, making an account, your first printer, and the person who prints.
- What Laberty is, and how the plans differA label printing app for families and small businesses. Here is what it does, who uses it, and what each plan adds.
- Creating your accountType your email, tap the link we send, and your Laberty is ready. There is no password to choose.
- Setting up your first printer and labelsAnswer five short questions about your printer, and Laberty sets it up and prints a test page.
- Adding a member (someone who only prints)Give a grandparent, a helper or a volunteer the simple printing screen, and get them signed in on their iPad.
- People and access: who can reach whatGive each person in your workspace just the parts of Laberty they need, from the whole console to a single print button.
- Finding your way aroundThe grouped menu, the search box, Ctrl+K, pinning your favourite pages, and the menu on a phone.
- Talking to Laberty (and having it talk back)The assistant screen — hold the microphone and speak, type, or have replies read out loud.
Printing
Printing from an iPhone or iPad, the print bridge, and each kind of printer.
- Printing from an iPhone or iPadHow the print button works on a phone or tablet, what the Share menu is for, and what to do when it misbehaves.
- Choosing where a label goesWhen a household has more than one address, Laberty asks which one before the label goes in your tray. One button per address.
- The print bridge: what it is and why you need itA small program on your own network that lets Laberty print to receipt printers, Zebra printers and networked Brother printers.
- Installing the bridge with Docker (Windows, Mac, Linux)Step by step: install Docker, download your bridge from Laberty (key already inside), start it, and check it connected.
- Laberty Bridge for Windows (USB printers)Print to a USB Brother QL, a DYMO, an inkjet with label sheets or a receipt printer plugged into a Windows PC, with no Docker.
- Installing the bridge on a Synology NASDownload your bridge from Laberty (key already inside) and run it in Container Manager as a project.
- Brother QL printers by IP addressPrint to a QL-820NWB, QL-810W or QL-1110NWB over your network through the bridge. Fixed IP, port 9100, and the right roll loaded.
- Receipt printers (ESC/POS)Connect an 80 mm or 58 mm thermal receipt printer by IP, print a test receipt, and print receipts from your own app.
- Zebra and other ZPL printersPrint to Zebra label printers by IP through the bridge, and send ZPL from your own app.
- Laberty Screen: a touchscreen, knob or sign by the printerA small device next to the printer that shows whether it is ready, what roll is in it, jobs, labels waiting to print and upcoming occasions.
- Laberty devices: build a button box, knob or sign for your printerUse the Device Builder in Admin to design a small controller by the printer, try it on screen, and get the wiring and firmware.
Labels & stock
Label sizes, wrong-label protection, and the kinds of labels Laberty makes.
- Label stock and "what's loaded"The labels Laberty knows, which ones fit which printer, the default size, and swapping rolls so each printer's "In it now" matches what's really inside.
- Wrong-label protection and alert emailsHow Laberty stops a job before it prints on the wrong labels, why some printers can't be checked, and who gets emailed.
- Food labelsLook up a product by barcode or photo, check what the AI found, and print labels with use-by dates on the continuous roll.
- Set up grocery mode on your phoneGet your personal grocery link onto your phone, add it to the home screen on iPhone or Android, and replace or turn off the link if it ever gets out.
- Appointment cards and calendar stripsType or dictate appointments, print corkboard cards or small strips for a paper calendar, and reprint them any time.
- Address labels and householdsAdd a household once, and Laberty makes the name styles for each person, the couple and the whole family.
- Autofill an address from a map link, an address or a Plus CodePaste almost anything on the household form — a Google, Apple or OpenStreetMap link, a Plus Code, coordinates, an address or a message that contains one — and Laberty fills in the street, city, state and ZIP.
- Households with more than one addressOne household, many addresses. A lake house, a winter home, Mom's place. Give each a nickname and pick where a label goes when you print.
- Filtering the Admin listsNarrow Households, Occasions, Food Labels and the activity log by who has kids, more than one address, a missing ZIP, never-sent occasions and more. Every filtered view can be bookmarked.
- Occasions: birthdays and anniversariesLaberty remembers a date and sends that label again every year, a week or two ahead, by email to the member or straight to the printer.
- Label layouts and previewsSee how each kind of label fits every label size you have loaded, and save a layout that suits a size.
- House labelsMake small custom labels with the date and time stamped on, like "Discard: frozen" or "Use by", and print them in one tap.

- Error codes and what to tell your usersHome & BusinessEvery refusal and failure the printing API returns, what caused it, and a plain sentence to show the person at the counter.
- Limits: how much you can print through the APIHome & Business20 API actions a month on Home and unlimited on Business, 60 jobs a minute, a fair-use notice that never blocks, and no per-job charge.
- Custom integrations and working with usHome & BusinessWhat you can build on Laberty today, why we don't run your code inside Laberty, and how to ask for something bigger.
Account & security
Signing in, passkeys, two-factor codes, and getting back in.
- Signing inLaberty signs you in with an email link or a passkey. Here is why links work once and last 20 minutes, and why there is no password.
- PasskeysSign in with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key. Nothing to type, and nothing a fake website can steal.
- Two-factor codes and recovery codesAdd a six-digit code from an authenticator app after the email link, and keep recovery codes for the day your phone is gone.
- Lost access to your accountWhat to do if you lost your email, your phone or your passkey, and how we help when nothing else works.
- Download a copy of your dataExport everything your workspace owns as a JSON file, or households, people and occasions as spreadsheets, whenever you like.
- Delete your workspaceHow to close your Laberty completely: what is deleted, what is kept, the 7-day grace period, and how to change your mind.
Plans & billing
What each plan includes, AI actions, trials, and changing or cancelling.
- Plans comparedFree, Home and Business side by side. Features, printers, the bridge, Laberty devices, the API, API keys and AI actions.
- AI actions, packs and pay-as-you-goWhat counts as an AI action, how many each plan includes, and the three ways to get more when you run out.
- Bring your own AI keysRun Laberty's AI on your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or Grok account, so it never counts against your included actions.
- Free trialHome and Business start with a free trial on your first subscription. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing.
- Changing or cancelling your planManage your card, invoices and cancellation in the Stripe customer portal, and what happens to your data when you leave.
- The Founder licenseA one-time license to the Laberty source code, to self-host on your own Cloudflare account, with 12 months of updates through GitHub and deliberately no support.
Troubleshooting
When nothing printed, when the bridge is refused, and when the email link is missing.
- Nothing printed: a step-by-step checklistWork out where a print job stopped, from the bridge to the printer, and fix it using the exact message you see.
- The bridge shows 401 or 403What "LABERTY_TOKEN was rejected (401)" and "Laberty refused this key (403)" mean, and how to fix each one.
- The email link didn't arriveWhere sign-in emails go missing, how to get a fresh link, and how to sign in without email.
