Households with more than one address

One household, many addresses. A lake house, a winter home, Mom's place. Give each a nickname and pick where a label goes when you print.

Some people have two homes: a lake house in summer, a place in Arizona in winter. Don't add them twice. Keep one household and give it as many addresses as you need. The people and the label styles (Couple, Couple (formal), each name) are shared, and you choose the address when you print.

Add another address

  1. Go to Admin → Households and open the household.
  2. Press + Add another address for these people.
  3. Type the address, or paste a map link and press Look up address to fill it in. See Filling in an address from a map link.
  4. Give it a nickname, such as "Lake house" or "Winter". The nickname is what the member taps.
  5. Press Add this address.

A household can have up to 10 addresses.

The primary address

Every household has exactly one Primary address. It is the one:

  • the household's own address form edits,
  • a label uses when nobody picks another one (an old occasion, the API, anything that doesn't ask),
  • shown first in lists.

To change it, press Make primary on another address. You can't remove the last address, and if you remove the primary one, the next address becomes primary.

Editing and removing

Under Addresses on the household page, each address has Edit this address, Make primary and Remove. Removing an address never touches the others. An occasion that was going to the removed address goes to the primary address instead.

Where does the label go?

  • The member taps a label. If the household has more than one address, big buttons named by nickname ask Where does this one go? before the label joins the tray. See Choosing where a label goes.
  • Ask Laberty asks "Which address: the lake house or Winter?" when it matters, with a button for each.
  • You, on Admin → Printing, pick from a Send to menu beside the household. Admin → Occasions asks when you add an occasion.

A household with one address works exactly as before, with no extra tap.

Searching

Search finds a household by any of its addresses, not just the primary one: a nickname, a street, a city or a ZIP.

Already added them twice?

If you added the same people at two addresses before this existed, Laberty's owner can merge them into one household with two addresses. People are matched by name (not just a shared last name), the oldest household is kept, the other address becomes a second address with a suggested nickname, and any occasions move across. Nothing is merged without a preview first.
