The Founder license
A one-time license to the Laberty source code, to self-host on your own Cloudflare account, with 12 months of updates through GitHub and deliberately no support.
What it is
The Founder license is a one-time purchase for people who want to run Laberty themselves.
- One payment, shown on the Founder license page. No subscription.
- Perpetual rights to the source code, premium modules included. Your license key never expires.
- Self-host it on your own Cloudflare account, with your own keys: your own email sending and AI.
- Modify it for your own household or your own organization.
- 12 months of updates, delivered through a private GitHub repository. After that you keep every version you received.
- Deliberately zero support.
It doesn't include a laberty.app account, and buying it doesn't create one. It isn't for reselling the code or for running Laberty as a service for other people. The full terms are at laberty.app/founder/terms.
Is it right for you?
It suits developers and tinkerers who are comfortable running a Cloudflare Worker and a D1 database, and setting up their own keys. The self-hosting guide shows what's involved before you buy.
If you want Laberty to simply work, a Home or Business subscription is the better fit. We run it for you, and you can contact us when something goes wrong. See Plans compared.
How to buy it
- Go to the Founder license page.
- Enter your email, and your GitHub username if you have it handy. You can add it later.
- Tick the box to agree to the terms, and press Continue to secure checkout.
- Pay on Stripe's checkout page.
You come back to a page with your license key. The same details arrive by email as your receipt.
How you get the code
The code lives in a private GitHub repository. We give your GitHub account read access to it.
- If you gave a GitHub username, we invite it as soon as you've paid. GitHub emails you.
- Accept the invitation at github.com/notifications.
- Clone the repository and follow the self-hosting guide.
Each release is one tagged commit. GitHub invitations expire after 7 days; if yours does, use Resend invite in the license portal.
The license portal
Open laberty.app/license and enter the email you bought with. We email a one-time link, no account or password. In the portal you can:
- see your license key, purchase date and when updates end,
- add or change your GitHub username (the old username loses access, the new one is invited),
- resend the GitHub invitation,
- read or download the terms.
When the 12 months end
About 14 days before, we email you. On the day, your GitHub account's access to the repository ends. You keep every version you already have, your license key stays valid, and your rights to use and modify the code carry on. Nothing is charged.
What "no support" means
- We don't answer questions about installing, hosting, configuring or changing a self-hosted copy.
- The contact form is for buying the license or a refund, not for help running it.
- What's available is the code, the self-hosting guide and the documentation in the repository.
That's why the license costs what it does.
Refunds
You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, as long as you haven't accepted the GitHub invitation. Contact us from the email address you bought with and choose The Founder license as the topic.
Not the same as the Founder plan
Inside Laberty, "Founder" is also the name of the house account's plan. That plan isn't for sale, and it has nothing to do with the license.
Still stuck?
Contact support and tell us what you tried. We reply by email, usually within 1–2 business days.
