People and access: who can reach what
Give each person in your workspace just the parts of Laberty they need, from the whole console to a single print button.
Everyone in a workspace shares the same households, printers and labels. What changes from person to person is how much of Laberty they can reach. You set that under Admin → Users, one person at a time.
Start from a template
Each person gets one of three starting points:
| Template | What they get |
|---|---|
| Admin | Everything your workspace has: labels, calendars, printing, people, billing, API keys and security. |
| Caregiver | All the labels, calendars, households and printing. Not people, billing, API keys, security or the activity log. |
| Simple mode | The big-button printing screen, with only the buttons you pick. No menus and no settings. |
Simple mode is the same screen a member has always had, made for someone on an iPad who just wants to print. See Adding a member.
Then switch single things on or off
On Admin → Users, open a person's card and choose Change what they can reach. You see the template, then every part of Laberty in the same groups as the menu: Labels, People & Places, Calendar, Printing & Devices and Account.
- A tick means they can open it. Each line says whether it came from the template or you changed it for this person.
- Untick something to take it away, even if the template includes it. For example, a Simple mode person can lose Ask Laberty and keep printing.
- Tick something to add it on top of the template. For example, a Caregiver can be given Billing.
- Picking a different template resets the ticks to that template, so you can start fresh.
Press Save access. The change works straight away, on every device they are signed in on.
A few things always hold:
- Only admins change access. A Caregiver cannot open Users, and cannot be given it.
- You cannot take away your own admin access. Ask another admin to do it.
- The last admin stays an admin. Make someone else an admin first.
- Your plan still decides what the workspace has. If Food labels are not part of your plan, ticking them for someone does nothing until the workspace has them. The editor marks those lines as switched off for this workspace.
What they see when something is off
Laberty does not just hide the link. If someone opens a page they are not allowed, they get a short "Not switched on for you" page instead. In Simple mode, they are taken back to their first button.
Every change to someone's access is written to the activity log, with what it was before and after.
Things that are not affected
- API keys belong to the workspace, not to a person. A key keeps working whoever made it.
- The print bridge and Laberty devices keep printing for everyone.
- Passkeys and sign-in belong to each person. Access only decides which pages they can open once they are in.
