Address labels and households

Add a household once, and Laberty makes the name styles for each person, the couple and the whole family.

A household is one address, with the people who live there. The address belongs to the household, so when someone moves you change it once and every label for them updates.

Add a household

  1. Go to Admin → Households and press Add household.
  2. Fill in the address: line 1, line 2 if needed, city, state and ZIP. Notes are optional.
  3. Press Create household.
  4. On the next screen, add the people. Each has an optional title (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr.), a first name and a last name. Mark children as children.

Laberty can fill in the address for you from a pasted map link (Google, Apple, OpenStreetMap), an address, a Plus Code or coordinates — see Autofill an address from a map link, an address or a Plus Code.

Laberty then makes the label styles: the name lines you can print for that household.

How it decides:

  • Every adult gets a style with their name, and a (formal) style too if they have a title.
  • Every child gets a style with their name.
  • Two adults with the same last name get Couple and Couple (formal), plus Family if there are children.
  • Two adults with different last names get Couple (formal), with each name on its own line, using their titles (or Mr. and Mrs. if none are set).
  • Three or more adults get only their own styles. Add a custom style for the whole household.

Custom styles

For wording Laberty doesn't make, like "The Parker Family" or "Dr. Jane Parker & Mr. Tom Parker", add your own style on the household's page. You can also edit a style's wording, or switch a style off so the member doesn't see it. Regenerating the standard styles only replaces the ones Laberty made; your custom styles stay.

Printing address labels

  • The member taps styles on their screen and prints. See Printing from an iPhone or iPad.
  • An admin can use Admin → Printing to pick several households, then print the labels as a PDF or email the batch to the member.
  • The assistant can add or fix an address by conversation. It shows the change and waits for a tap before saving.

From another app (Business)

With a Full access key, GET /api/households lists households with their people and styles, and POST /api/households adds one. When you include people, the standard styles are made automatically. See the API reference.
